Today is the beginning(?) of my road with Estill vocal training. I have been waiting for this opportunity for several years at this point. My good friend introduced me to the technique over lunch one day, but I ended up putting it on the back burner for a very long time. When I was studying at RCS, we worked with Estill, but it was more of a universal language for working with our voices rather than truly undertaking the full training. It was enough to really show me that this was something that I wanted to study further as it would really help me in my career as a performer and artist. So, now, thanks to COVID19, Estill trainings are now being done virtually over Zoom, making it much more accessible (and affordable!)! So, here we go - I'm excited!

WHAT IS ESTILL?

You may not know what I am talking about - so let me explain. Estill is a way of looking at using your voice based on science and anatomy. The approach is research based and I love how it gives concrete information for how to use and adjust your voice. It breaks down the creation of sound into each different moving part and how those moving parts can be adjusted to influence the sound. The isolations then become tools for coloring your talking or singing. It is really fascinating and helpful.
